Pink Octobert Concert by Aretha's Sisters Unplugged

An evening in tribute to Aretha Franklin to support the fight against breast cancer

Made up of four female vocalists and a rhythm section (bass, piano, guitar, percussion, and saxophone), Aretha’s Sisters Unplugged is a band that pays tribute to Aretha Franklin, “The Queen of Soul”. Why “unplugged”? Because the acoustics of the dome at the Great Stables perfectly enhance both voices and instruments. Varying the pleasures and without attempting to imitate the diva’s unique voice or slavishly reproduce her songs, the singers take turns as soloists, backing vocalists, and pianists.

Aretha’s illustrious career, punctuated by iconic hits, made her the most awarded rhythm and blues artist of her generation, winning 18 Grammy Awards. She was the first woman ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

“In Aretha’s her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect.” It is with these words that Barack Obama honoured her memory when she returned to the stars in August 2018.
